3 Simple, Cost-Effective Ways to Promote Your Website

Websites are an important part of any business. But simply having a website is not enough. You must promote your site and encourage people to take a look at what you have to offer. So how do you generate web traffic? There are dozens of ways to do this. But we are only going to briefly discuss 3 extremely simple, low-cost methods. In fact, 2 of these methods require nothing but your time.

1.

Advertise in popular e-zines.

There are drones of e-zines floating around cyberspace. And many of these are published specifically for pet lovers. E-zine advertising is effective because it is highly targeted. By placing a small advertisement in an ezine you will be able to deliver your message directly to your target audience. Most e-zine ads are inexpensive and relatively easy to create. And since they are so effective, you should use them as often as possible.

2.

Write e-zine articles to publicize your site.
E-zine articles are an excellent way to generate free publicity for your web site. Find several ezines that would be a good fit for you and your specific line of business. Then write an article or two for those publications.

Once you’ve written your article, contact the ezine publisher and try to get it published. Most publishers will be happy to receive your article. They need articles to keep your ezine going. Although you usually do not get paid for writing an e-zine article, you will be able to generate quite a bit of free publicity for your company.

At the end of your article you will be able to place a short “About the Author” section. This is where you will tell people who you, what you do, and how you can help them. Always include an e-mail address where people can get in touch with you, along with a link to your site. If people like your article, or find it particularly helpful, they will more than likely visit your webpage.

3.

Participate in online discussions forums.
There are thousands of internet discussion groups and blogs for pet lovers and enthusiasts. Go to Yahoo groups and type “pets” in the search box. The search reveals a stunning 6,745 groups dedicated to pets. And that’s just on Yahoo! If you are trying to sell to pet owners, these forums may be an excellent publicity tool. Of course you will want to be careful to never point-blank promote yourself or your company. Instead, participate by offering helpful information and advice. After each comment, type your name, business name, your slogan and web address. By offering helpful information related to your business you will encourage people to visit your site.
